How do WOODLAND adventure beds differentiate themselves from similar products produced by other manufacturers?

WOODLAND is different to other adventure bed manufacturers because of the strength of the materials used, the measurements, the design, the quality of the raw materials used, the accessories- and service offered - all this together results in an excellent price-performance relationship.

Make the comparison for yourself:

Compare one of the WOODLAND adventure beds with another manufacturer. You will quickly find out which criteria determine a market leader in quality. Simply print out the following list and when filling it out, pay special attention to the following details:

New competition guidelines means transparency for consumers: Because of the new EU ruling, it allows the legislative authority to objectively examine the differences which exist between the differently branded products which fullfil "the same purpose". The comparison however is not allowed to be misleading.

Why is WOODLAND furniture only available by mail order and not through furniture dealers?

The reason is simple: WOODLAND would lose its lucrative price cost relationship if it worked through dealers, which in the interest of our customers we do not want.

Therefore we think that WOODLAND as the manufacturer can best help the customer by entering into a direct customer relationship where we can provide the optimum assistance to meet the customers needs. In particular in the advice phase we can explain the best use of the variations in building options of the adventure bed system.

In addition, the production of goods to suit individual needs means direct contact is valuable. The direct customer dialogue is the main reason that many ideas were developed and because we listen to our customers WOODLAND has gained greater status and popularity.

Mail order customers can see the products "live" through WOODLANDs practical reference service and this gives them the opportunity to see the product in use and gain valuable advice from the friendly reference family at the same time.

Can I get WOODLAND beds in special measurements?

Yes. We regularly produce special finishes at cost price. Simply tell us what you would like and if possible send us a sketch. You will promptly get an offer from WOODLAND with respect to your increased or decreased measurements. The same goes for the mattress offer.

Individual adjustments for sloping roofs in childrens rooms are no problem for us. However make the enquiries as exact as possible (e.g. by sketch), therefore we can use this to fulfil your wish as accurately as possible. You can contact us most easily on the following number: 02133-2482-19 (ask for Mrs. Yamada-Glahn) or -15. For further information on special finishes contact "service".

What are the advantages of untreated wood surfaces?

Advantage Nr. 1:  Untreated wood is ideal for a healthy living environment: The wood can regulate the amount of moisture in the air and bring it to the optimum level. In particular in the winter months when the air conditioning makes the respiratory tract of your children very dry, however untreated wood surfaces balance out the humidity like a sponge.

Block_3.jpg (11305 Byte)

Advantage Nr. 2:  The maintainence advantages: Children have in our experience sometimes paint on furniture e.g. with felt tip pen or wax crayons.   Unwanted graffiti or dirty marks can be easily removed with some cleaning tissue and a vaccum cleaner as a cleaning method. One with wax or oil treated upper surfaces can be much more difficult to clean. Coloured marks (e.g. with a felt tip) would be much more strongly stained into the wood with an upper surface treatment (oil or wax).

Advantage Nr. 3: The cost and time saving is not to be underestimated. An adventure bed (e.g. CALGARY) consists of more than 50 metres of beam material, which in the case of the upper surfaces must be coated on four sides using many operations. This takes many litres of wax and a great deal of time. However for an extra price we are also able to provide this service for you. Suitable varnishes and wax finishes can be found here.

Advantage Nr. 4:  Untreated wood is more easy for childrens hands to grip when climbing and therefore more child friendly.

At which age is a WOODLAND adventure bed sensible for my child?

The adaptable WINNIPEG can be made into five different building variations and therefore stays useful

WOODLAND adventure beds are suitable for children at any age. The WOODLAND furniture combination can be adapted for the use of every child at every age. As the first manufacturer to develop a highly adaptable bunk bed, WOODLAND produced the WINNIPEG which is suitable for children in their first year of life and from the beginning it can be assembled to adapt to the childs age. (see pic. left). By using the different heights of the sleeping levels, the bed can always be adapted to suit the physical and mental capabilities of the child.

However if you don´t want to begin with a WINNIPEG bunk bed you can use a LULLABY during your childs first year of life, the ALABAMA-MINI-, ALABAMA- or WYOMING, baby frame beds can be a similarly flexible entrance into the furniture system. We have provided an overview to help you with your choice of model:

Why is there no shopping basket ordering system at WOODLAND ?

Customer enquiries have shown that very few customers are prepared to buy furniture on the click of a button. Normally the customer wants to make personal contact (e.g. by phone) before making a purchase decision, in order to get personal advice. The consequence is that written orders (E-mail, Fax or Post) are no problem for WOODLAND customers.

Nevertheless we are thinking about integrating a shopping system shortly which will run parallel to the current ordering possibilities. When this is done we will inform you via newsletter-service.

Why are sloping bed ladders not a sensible choice for adventure beds?

Sloping ladders have serious disadvantages: The danger of an accident is higher bacause the sloping steps with wide step rungs can lead to typical accidents: If children use such steps they are liable to slip if they are wearing socks. This danger is particularly apparent if sloping steps are used backwards. This means that the child is facing the bed and only has two contacts (e.g. a hand and a foot) on the bed.

The standard vertical ladder from WOODLAND is, in contrast, a much better choice: while climbing the child always has at least 3 contact points with the ladder and can more easily grip onto the round wooden bars of the ladder than flat steps. If they do slip on the rungs then they can more easily get a firmer grip.

Daily climbing strengthens and trains the childs muscles (more than the comfortable wide rungs on sloping ladders) and demand more secure contact with play and tower accessories.
